Medical Device Complaint Handling and Reporting. Medical device manufacturers must record and track customer complaints according to the Quality System Regulation (QSR) defined in 21 CFR Part 820. Additionally, FDA Part 803 regulations require firms that have received complaints of device malfunctions, serious injuries, or deaths to notify the FDA. Complaints - 13 July 2016. First, it is the only quality process that interacts directly with the customer. "FDA Inspections-Complaint Investigation Requirements-Part I" is a two-part series which provides an overview of 21 CFR 820.198 requirements. Last week, I received a message from someone asking for advice on how to perform a complaint investigation. The ISO 13485 definition is very similar. For reference, FDA complaint regulations are covered in 820.198. ISO 13485 sub-clauses 7.2.3 addresses customer communication and 8.2.1 addresses feedback.
