Which ways of learning words and expressions are considered the most effective in the long run? Often learned words are forgotten after a week or two if they are not used. What techniques allow you to not just memorize words, but to do so in a way that makes them stick for the long term? Do methods such as flashcards, contextual associations or word games work?

Keeping new words in your brain takes more than just repetition. Try using them in sentences, linking them to images, or even creating funny stories to remember them. Apps like Anki for spaced repetition are fantastic too. Oh, and I found best language learning app advice on long-term word retention pretty eye-opening—it’s all about active engagement with the language.
